Historical Fiction Reading Challenge 2025
This year I will be joining in with a yearly Historical Fiction Challenge. 📚
I found out about this reading challenge from a book blogger I follow, Helen from She Reads Novels, who is taking part in this yearly event organised by Marg at The Intrepid Reader & Baker.
I am looking forward to taking part in this challenge to inspire me to read some of my new Historical Fiction books which I haven’t picked up yet! As this is my first time taking part I am planning on starting at the Victorian Reader level first (5 books), as I haven’t read lots of historical fiction yet. But, I may try for the Renaissance Reader level (10 books) if I am reading more then I thought I would!
Anyone can take part and you can read as little as 2 books (20th Century Reader) or you can go for the full 50 books (Prehistoric), it’s up to you! I have enjoyed looking at my shelves to find some books that would work for this challenge, here they are! 😊
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Brooklyn by Colm Toibin
Christy by Catherine Marshall
When Calls the Heart (Canadian West #1) by Janette Oke - linked to my review 👈
When Comes the Spring (Canadian West #2) by Janette Oke - linked to my review 👈
A Lantern in Her Hand (Deal Family #1) by Bess Streeter Aldrich- linked to my review 👈
Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross

The Wolves of Willoughby Chase by Joan Aiken

Hello, hello to the members of my “Confirmed Bookworms” Club!
Hello Isabella Ann, I hope you have fun taking part this year, it is one of my favourite reading challenges. I also really love The Wolves of Willoughby Chase by Joan Aiken, so I hope you enjoy it, too!

Good luck - I hope you reach the Victorian Reader level and maybe even the Renaissance one. I loved The Wolves of Willoughby Chase and Brooklyn.
