Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie
“All the world is made of faith, and trust, and pixie dust.”
-J. M. Barrie
About:
In this story we follow the Darling children, Wendy, John and Micheal who leave their home one late night for an adventure of a lifetime with Peter Pan, the boy who never wants to grow up. After all he has told them about the wonderful land of “The Neverland” where children never have to grow up, nothing will stop them to go out through their bedroom window and fly up, up, up and away with him!
Through the book Peter Pan shows the Darling children, along with Tinker Bell and the Lost Boys, the joys of being children! The games you can play, the trouble you can cause and the carefree days of adventure. But, trouble soon grows on “The Neverland” as Captain Hook and his crew of pirates try to find Peter Pan and his friends. Before to long someone will have to walk the plank!
My thoughts:
Full of enchantment and magic this was a joyous read, bringing back all the wonder and adventures of childhood. I am sure we all grew up reading or listening to Peter Pan’s stories by our parents or watching the movies filled with swashbuckling pirates, mischievous mermaids and dear, resentful Tinker Bell!
I so enjoyed following the escapades of the Darling children and their new friends from Neverland. The story wove childhood fascination, excitment and carefree games throughout its pages, quite like a fairytale. There were a few parts that were a little violent, especially when the pirates and Captain Hook were involed, for younger children, but other then that I found it a delightful read and it is now a new favourite of mine!
I felt like it taught me that, even though you still have to grow up one day and become an adult, you can still always keep a little bit of merriment and magic inside your heart. 😊
“Never say goodbye, because goodbye means going away and going away means forgetting.”
