About:
In the next book of the Canadian West series, we meet Elizabeth Thatcher again as she prepares for her wedding to Wynn Delaney, a dashing member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
We follow the next stage of Elizabeth’s life as a married women, her struggles, her achievements and also her loneliness living out in the Canadian wilderness where the winters are un-forgiving and life in the woods is no fairytale. As her new life unfolds along with the newly budded leaves of spring, Elizabeth wonders if her love for her new life and friends will be enough to live out another winter and survive the chaos and loss it can bring?
My thoughts:
An enjoyable, historical fiction romance novel! I didn’t enjoy it as much as I loved “When Calls the Heart”, but I did like meeting the new characters and discovering how Elizabeth dealt with her first winter out in the wilderness and snow of Canada. It is a series that I couldn't read one after the other as they are too similar for me, so I am going to have a little break and pick up where I left off maybe later in the year. I found the storyline and writing similar to one of my favourite authors, Laura Ingalls Wilder and it reminded me of one of her books “The Long Winter”, with the hardships the North can bring. I look forward to reading the next book, “When Breaks the Dawn” when I re-start the series!
